Cleaning over a slab without over-wetting

Over a slab there is nowhere for excess water to go but up through the carpet, so control matters more than volume. We use the minimum solution that lifts the soil and make extra dry passes to pull it back. Where a smell is coming from the pad rather than the pile, cleaning the surface will not fix it, and we will say so rather than clean it twice.

Over a slab, the most common complaint is smell rather than appearance. That distinction matters because the two have different fixes. If the odour is in the pile, cleaning removes it. If it has gone through into the pad or reached the slab underneath, cleaning the surface will not touch it, and repeated cleaning just adds moisture to a system that is already struggling to dry.

We check before quoting rather than after. Where the pad is the problem, replacing the affected section is the honest answer and we will say so, even though it is not work we are selling.

Drying is the part that goes wrong

A slab gives moisture back slowly and takes it up slowly, so there is nowhere for excess water to go except up through the carpet and into the room. Over-wetting a carpet on slab is how a cleaning visit produces a musty smell that was not there before. We use the least solution that lifts the soil, make more dry passes than a drier climate would need, and want air moving in the room afterwards. If the house has been closed up with the air conditioning off, say so when you book, because it changes how we plan the visit.
